Fo keeping busy on the balcony
Post accident we have kept ourselves idle deliberately by simply pottering around Cairns. A hire car seems overkill for this but we are keen not to lose our nerve and aim for at least one short drive each day. Cairns continues to be warm and a bit humid as we get used to our new apartment. Brendan, our host, works most of the time and, as his girlfriend is currently back in Ireland, we pretty much have the run of the place to ourselves. The apartment has a sea view over the Esplanade, is modern and clean.

We fill our days with walking on the Esplanade, snoozing on the apartment balcony and deciding which flavour of Connoisseur ice cream to buy next. Other than that there is not a lot else, at this stage, to report.

Tantrums during the teenage years can be difficult.
We have sent Fo's surplus clothing back to the UK by surface mail. Not only was much of it unsuitable for hot weather, she'd also managed to pack too many of each item! I tell you, at times, it’s like travelling with a teenager.

We have registered with Medicare, the equivalent of our NHS. We also collected the analysis report of Fo's cardiac ‘Holter’ which did not flag up anything of significance. This also is no bad thing because we have been unable to find a GP who could see Fo before we move on next Monday to Townsville.

We have re-planned the next four weeks and will now be completing the journey down to Brizzie (Brisbane in case you weren't sure) in a series of Greyhound bus hops, though 'hop' doesn't really do justice to an average journey time of 7 hours. It will be different.

We will post again when there is something meaningful to say.
